Book of the Month

The Book of the Month is The Last Nomad: Coming of Age in the Somali Desert by Shugri Said Salh. The Last Nomad was the Worldview Project Book Club's book for February. The book begins with the author's experiences when she was a little girl living in the harsh but beautiful Somali desert, herding sheep and living with her wise, caring, and poetic grandmother. However, her life was violently up-ended when the Somali Civil War broke out in the 1980s. "A remarkable and inspiring true story that 'stuns with raw beauty' about one woman's resilience, her courageous journey to America, and her family's lost way of life"—Amazon
